Natural Selection is a concept of evolution, popularly theorised by Charles Darwin. It is split into 4 individual stages.

Variation:
A
There is variation in every population due to mutations- lots of different alleles. This leads to a range of phenotypes.

Competition:
A
Individuals within a population compete for a range of things. Food,mates,shelter and surviving from predators.

Survival of the Fittest:
A
Individuals with the ‘best’ features are likely to be the best competitors.
These individuals are most likely to get a mate.

Reproduction/inheritance
A
Successful individuals pass on their beneficial alleles to their offspring.
