From where did the narrator come from
The narrator came from the Great War and came to settle in the East so he could learn the bond business. He wanted to get rich.
How does the narrator describe Gatsby
The narrator describes Gatsby as a person who had something “gorgeous” about him, and goes on to have us infer that he is a unique person who changed the narrator’s life in some way.
Describe the narrators house
The narrator’s house is described as at the very tip of West Egg, between two huge places that rented for a lot of money, and his house was more of a cabin that didn’t take a lot to rent.
Describe the Buchanans house
The Buchanans’ house was red and white and it looked very much like a mansion, and it overlooked the water.
How does Nick know Daisy and Tom
Nick knows Daisy because he is her cousin and Tom because he is Daisy’s husband, and also he went to college with him.
Describe Tom. What is our impression of him from chapter 1
Tom is rather brash and he doesn’t really listen to what other people say. He’s very quick and cuts people off a lot of the time. Our first impression is that we really don’t like him because for one thing, he cheats on his wife, and for another thing, he isn’t very nice.
What kind of person is Daisy
Daisy is a different sort of person who you can’t help but like because everyone listens to what she has to say partially just because of the way she says it, and she seems like a very kind person.

She told Nick that Tom was cheating on Daisy with someone else.

Daisy says that she hopes her daughter will grow up to be a beautiful fool, because that’s the best thing a girl can be in the world.

Gatsby is introduced for only a few lines of the novel, where he is standing out on his dock, almost reaching out to the green light on the dock of the Buchanans’.
What is the “valley of ashes”
The valley of ashes is basically a farm of ashes near the city where smoke comes up from the buildings and it certainly isn’t a very inviting place.

The eyes are on a billboard on the way to see Tom’s mistress, to advertise an oculist, but it looks as if the eyes are watching over everything.

George Wilson owns a garage for repairs and buying and selling cars. He is a very oblivious person who just seems to want to please Tom, but his wife is more obvious and sneaks out away from her husband often to see Tom.

Mrs. Wilson bought a little puppy.

At 158th street they went to a long strip of apartment houses, specifically one, to see the McKees and Catherine.

Catherine was a slim girl who wore a lot of makeup and had red hair. She didn’t live in the apartment but with another girl at a hotel. Mr. McKee was pale and he said he was in the “artistic game.” Mrs. McKee was described as a shrill, horrible woman who enjoyed being photographed.
What does me mcknee tell Nick about Gatsby
Mr. McKee tells Nick that he was a nephew or cousin of Kaiser Wilhelm, and that is where he got all his money.
What reason did myrtle give for marrying Wilson
Myrtle said she married George Wilson because she was a Catholic, and they didn’t believe in divorce.
What did Tom do to Myrtle when she mentioned Daisy’s name?

Describe Gatsby’s wealth. List some things that show his wealth.
Gatsby’s wealth is plain because he has a very large house and is able to invite many people over to his place for parties and invite a band and have lots of drinks and an entire library, so it shows he can indulge on many things.
What kind of people came to Gatsby’s parties.
All kinds of people, most of the time rich, because they show up in elaborate clothes, but people come either with or without being invited.
Why did Nick caraway go to the party
Nick Carraway went to the party because he was one of the few who was actually invited.
How did Nick meet Gatsby
Nick meets Gatsby when Jordan introduces them, but at first he doesn’t know it’s Gatsby so he feels a bit foolish when he asks who he is.
