The whole digestive tract extending from the mouth to the anus
Alimentary canal
Where the physical digestive process starts
Mouth
The three continuous parts compromising the small intestine
Deodenum,jejunum and ileum
Small lid which closes the trachea during the act of swallowing

Waves of contraction which move the food down the oesophagus to stomach
Peristalsis
The sphincter which controls the flow of fluids from the ampulla of vater into the duodenum
Spinchter of oddi
Gland which secretes juice into the duodenum and also has an endocrine function
Pancreas
The location of kidney
Retroperitoneal
A tube which extends down from each kidney and conveys urine from the kidney to the bladder
ureter
The external opening of the urethra.
meatus
The gland through which the urethra courses in the male
prostate
Anuria
Failure of the kidney t produce enough urine
Uraemia
A raised level in the blood of urea and other nitrogenous waste compunds that are normally eliminated by the kidneys
Polyuria
Production of abnormally large volumes of dilute urine
Cirrhosis
A chronic disease of the liver marked by degeneration of cells, inflammation and fibrous thickening of tissue
Dysuria
Painful or difficult urination
