- cause animals to feel full and stop eating. low levels may explain the bingeing pattern

What is primary intestinal lymphangiectasia?
A
aka Waldmann’s disease.
type of protein losing enteropathy where lymph fluid is lost into the GI tract.

Features of primary intestinal lymphangiectasia?
A
Hypoproteinemia Oedema Lymphocytopenia Diarrhoea Steatorrhea Malabsorption Hypogammaglobulinemia (immunoglobulin A, G, M)
Cholesterol levels are normal (as opposed to nephrotic syndrome, where they are elevated).

Common signs and symptoms of primary intestinal lymphangiectasia?
A
leg swelling, abdominal pain, lethargy +/- weight loss, diarrhoea

features of juvenile polyps?
A
- more than 90% of polyps that present in childhood are juvenile polyps
- ie. benign hamartomas
- painless blood per rectum
- 5% may prolapse and 10% assoc w abdo pain
- not premalignant
