A

aka Waldmann’s disease.

type of protein losing enteropathy where lymph fluid is lost into the GI tract.

Features of primary intestinal lymphangiectasia?

A
Hypoproteinemia
Oedema
Lymphocytopenia
Diarrhoea
Steatorrhea
Malabsorption
Hypogammaglobulinemia (immunoglobulin A, G, M)

Cholesterol levels are normal (as opposed to nephrotic syndrome, where they are elevated).

A

leg swelling, abdominal pain, lethargy +/- weight loss, diarrhoea

features of juvenile polyps?

A
  • more than 90% of polyps that present in childhood are juvenile polyps
  • ie. benign hamartomas
  • painless blood per rectum
  • 5% may prolapse and 10% assoc w abdo pain
  • not premalignant
