Gastric anatomy Flashcards
1
Q
Gastric Mucosa
A
- Has 4 layers.
- Mucosa is composed of simple columnar epithelium and is folded = rugae.
- The epithelium extends downwards and forms gastric pits, which narrow to gastric glands.
2
Q
Gastric Pit - 4 types of exocrine cells.
A
- Mucus cells - mucus
- Parietal or oxyntic cells - HCl and intrinsic factor.
- Chief cells - pepsinogen and gastric lipase.
- Enteroendocrine cells - i.e. G-cells produce gastrin.
3
Q
Gastrin
A
Increases gastric secretions, motility and relax the pylori sphincter.
4
Q
Somatostatin
A
From D cells, inhibits gastrin release.
