Q

Boyle’s law

A

the law states that, for a fixed amount of gas at constant temperature, pressure is inversely proportional to volume

PV=k (where k is constant)
P1V1=P2V2

Q

Charles’ law

A

for a given amount of gas at constant pressure, volume is directly proportional to the absolute temperature.

V=kT (T is in Kelvin and k is constant)
V1/T1 = V2/T2

Q

what are the two common standard conditions?

A
  1. standard temperature and pressure (STP) -> at 0 degrees Celsius / 273 kelvin and standard pressure = 100.0 kPA
  2. standard laboratory conditions (SLC) -> 25 deg Celsius, pressure of 100 kPA
