A

Asking God to prevent what was going to happen to him when he talked about a ‘cup’. By a ‘cup’ he meant a cup of suffering.

Q

1)Why might Jesus’ prayers cause problems for Christians today

A

Peter’s behaviour might also cause Christians problems, as Peter let Jesus down. He fell asleep when he was needed most. Christians might wonder that if the first pope failed Jesus, what hope do other Christian’s have?

2)Why might Jesus’ prayers cause problems for Christians today?

A

The fact that Jesus’ prayer to God asking him to change the course of events might make some Christians think that Jesus had no trust in God’s plan for his only Son. Some Christians might struggle with the idea that Jesus did not have faith in God.

Q

3)Why might Jesus’ prayers cause problems for Christians today?

A

These prayers might cause Christians problems today because some Christians find it difficult to understand Jesus’ reactions in the face of his death. If Jesus is part of the Trinity, then he is God. This should mean that he had no need to pray to his father. If Jesus is divine, some Christians find it hard to understand why he behaved like a sacred human at the start of the story.
