Gantt chart & Critical path analysis Flashcards
What is a Gantt chart?
Visual representation of a project plan that includes (at least) tasks and the time involved for each task.
Benefits and limitations of Gantt charts.
Benefits: big picture; time estimates.
Limitations: estimates may be wrong; does not capture all information.
What is a critical path analysis?
Project planning tool that shows the minimum time period that a project needs to be completed.
Benefits and limitations of critical path analysis.
Benefits: improves project scheduling, prioritizes tasks, reduces risk of delays (deadlines), helps decision making and communication.
Limitations: complex for large projects, assumes accurate estimates, sensitive to change (does not address unforeseen risks).
