What were the conditions like in Gallipoli?
- Sweltering hot summers before bracing through snow and the cold of winter
- It frequently rained, flooding the trenches, turning the battlefields into mud
- Deteriorating health and conditions were common

Soldiers would wear their uniforms inside out to stop seams from getting into cuts, including underwear. As they wore the same uniform day and night, this would help them maintain cleanliness.

- The evacuation of Gallipoli is remembered as the most successful part of the campaign. The evacuation of the trenches by the ANZACS was very successful, ultimately saving many lives of soldiers. This courage and ingenuity during Gallipoli would contribute to ANZACS legend, and form part of Australia’s identity.
- It was also one of the first battles where Australia fought together as a nation
