- General health issues

- Meds
- Anesthesia reactions
- Tobacco and Alcohol use is VERY important
- Mental Status
What might you suspect if you hear an S3 Gallop?
Left Sided Heart Failure
Can Naturecore and Heparin be in the same IV line?
No, because it can cause crystalization. They will need to be in separate IV tubes.
What is always the biggest concern for the patient?
Airway. This might mean you have to raise the head of the bed.
If rapid emptying of the stomach is needed, what drug would you give?
Reglan (metoclopramide)
What drugs might you give if a procedure is long or if stress ulcers are likely?
H2 histamine blockers (Tagamet, Zantac)
Which drugs are sedatives?
Atarax, Vistaril (both are hydroxyzine)
Which drug is a hypnotic?
lorazepam (Ativan)
