Gallbladder Flashcards
Which transducers are best for gallbladder?
Curvilinear 2 - 5 MHz
When should you increase the frequency for the gallbladder?
When evaluating wall thickness, pericholecystic fluid and gallstones
What is the subcostal sweep?
Most effective window in longitude, sweep probe inferiorly and laterally along the subcostal margin
What is the X-minus 7 approach?
An intercostal window, Xiphoid process and move laterally to right 7 cm, probe is perpendicular to the skin between ribs
What is flattening the probe technique?
Young patients cause GB to be anterior and cranial so point indicator to right and flatten against abdomen and fan anterior to posterior
What are five pathologies with GB?
Gallstones/sludge, Murphy’s sign, wall thickness, pericholecystic fluid, dilated CBD
When are gallstones evident?
90 - 95% of acute cholecystitis likely to play a role in cancers
