Gait Analysis (Advanced) Flashcards
Average foot angle in the transverse plane relative to the leg
abducted in the transverse plane approximately 15 degrees
Average base of gait
normal within 5-10 cm
Normal foot motion from heel strike
through the stance phase
some degree of pronation during midstance as it accepts the weight
of the body after heel strike
medial tubercle of the navicular as foot moves from heel strike
through the stance phase
good reference point
foot pronates = navicular is lower, closer to the ground
foot supinates = navicular is higher, further away from the ground
Typical striking location on heel at foot strike
lateral or centrolateral border of the heel
typical tibial movement during midstance
some medial rotation
3 typical pelvis movements during gait
1 shift 4-5 cm vertically in a rhythmical
up and down motion, lowest at double limb support, highest at single limb support
2 shift laterally to the weightbearing
side approximately 2.5cm
3 pelvis should rotate forward on the swing leg equally and bilaterally
