gait analysis Flashcards
1
Q
what degree is the hip flexed during initial contact?
A
hip is flexed to 20* and slight ER
2
Q
what muscles are activated during initial contact of gait?
A
hip glute max/ hamstring to reduce flexion
erector spinae to resist trunk flexion
ankle dorsiflexion
3
Q
what are some potential problems that could affect intital contact
A
foot slap (L4, dorsiflexion)
excessive trunk extension (glute max) (Lurch gait - ineffective glute max. they will lean backwards during terminal swing/initial contact.)
equinus deformity
plantar flexor spacticity
forward trunk lean - reason for this is for weak quadriceps.
