GABAa Benzodiazepine binding site drugs?
DIazepam, lorazepam. Used as anxiolytics, antidepressants, muscle relaxants.
GABAa GABA agonists?
GABA, muscimol.
GABAa GABA antagonists?
Bicuculline, gabazine.
GABAa Barbiturate/anaesthetic binding site drugs?
Pentobarbital, thiopental, propofol. Used as sedatives, antiepileptics, anaesthetics.
GABAa Channel blocking site drugs?
Picrotoxin, pentylenetetrazole. Convulsants.
GABAb agonists?
GABA, baclofen. spasticity (muscle spasms, rigidity) in MS and motor disorders. May also have sedative and anxiolytic effects.
GABAb antagonists?
2-hydroxy-saclofen, CGP55845A. Possibly use in epilepsy - block presynaptic GABAbR to prevent reduction of GABA release and increase synaptic inhibiton. May also be sedative.
