Why were motor cars better than animal drawn vehicles?
If something goes wrong with the animal you are stranded.
Animals are expensive because you need food, medicine and lots of care.
When were the first vehicles invented?
18th Century.
What were the first vehicles powered by?
Steam.
What was the first steam car called?
Steam Wagon. Because it was powered by steam.
What did a steam wagon look like?
It had three wheels. Two at the back and one in the front.
The steam boiler was in front.
In history what have cars been powered by?
Steam, Electricity and Petroleum.
Out of the steam, electricity and petrol car which one became the most popular.
Petrol car.
Who invented the first petrol cars in the 1880s?
Carl Benz and Gottlied Daimler and Wilhelm Maybach.
How were the very first cars made?
All individually.
Parts were made seperately and then put together by hand.
Why was individual car manufacturing not great?
It was too slow and took too long.
Who invented the Assembly Line?
Henry Ford.
What is an Assembly Line
A way of producing many things in a short amount of time.
It is a line of machines and people.
What is mass production?
When products can be made in large quantities.
Why is mass production good?
It makes building things quicker and makes them cheaper to buy.
What are some of the things in modern cars today?
CD Players, Computer Screens, TVs, Fridges, Lights.
