Mechanised commercial farming: farming for industry, national or international, using machinary.
subsistence farming: growing crops and animals to feed their own families (does not contribute to trade / the economy)

+less chemicals are used
+need less space: more economical
+wider range of crops grown
+grow, clear land, grow etc allowing land to heal / replenish
-no sale, doesnt solve world hunger
-poor weather affects crop yield, people have less food
-irrigation, manure and fertiliser isnt monitored
