  • moves facial muscles, lacrimal and nasal gland secretions, submandibular and sublingual glands, tympanic membrane, external ear canal sensations and taste on anterior ⅔ of tongue.

Motor components

  1. Temporal branch: frontalis and orbicularis oculi
  2. Zygomatic branch: orbicularis oculi, zygomaticus major and minor
  3. Buccal branch: buccinator, orbicularis oris, zygomaticus, levator labii superioris
  4. Mandibular branch: orbicularis oris and depressor labii inferioris
  5. Cervical branch: platysma
  6. Posterior auricular- occipitalis
