the ability of a statistical procedure to produce valid estimated values for a population characteristic (parameter) despite violations of the assumptions on which the procedure is based.
Campbells rules of measurement
- Each object is assigned a single number
- The sum of two represent the emperical combination
- This is called concatenation operation
Category rules
Selected property on which category is based must be identical within subjects of that group
Mutually exclusive’ If classified in one, cannot be classified in another.
Exhaustive’ Chosen categories must capture all kinds within that property
AKA all must fall into A and only ONE catagory
Property vs order
property solely categorises, order gives quanitiy/ relative amount
Zero
absolute zero represents absence, like RT
Arbitrary zero is a point in a scale that represents a value, but not absence
