MOA of PCP
- Uncouples ox. Phosphorylation -> PCP
- Overheating toxicosis
CS/Lesions w/ PCP (acute and chronic)
-Met acid b/c lack of O2 (massive consumption of O2)
-↓ milk productions,
-May die quickly
-Acute : fast, fever, S+, ↑metabolism
-Chronic : ADR, wt. loss
Lesions: rapid rigor mortis, dark B+, skin irritation, HrKeratosis
Analysis/Dx of PCP
BW: nothing specific
-Rapid rigor mortis
-Test K in dead, U+ & B+ in live
-Local irritation, pulm congest and liver
-Chronic: Hyperkeratosis and villous hrplasia of UB
Dx: Heat, dark B+, Met Ac.
Ddx for PCP
Ddx: Heat stroke
- -Nitrate (brown B, no fever)
- -CO (bright B, no fever)
- -Pesticides (marked neuroma, auton signs)
- -Peracute infectious dz
Tx/Px for PCP
Nothing specific
Tx: supportive
Prophylactic Ab+
Px good if survive >24h
