What is rose black spot?
A fungus that causes purple or black spots to develop on the leaves of rose plants.
What happens to a leaf as a result of rose black spot infecting a plant?
The leaves turn yellow and drop off.
What is the effect of the entire plant due to being infected by a rose black spot?
Less photosynthesis can happen, so the plant doesn’t grow very well.
How is rose black spot spread?
It spreads through the environment (as spores) in water or by the wind.
How can rose black spot be treated.
Using fungicides.
Stripping the plant of its affected leaves.
What is malaria caused by?
It is caused by a protist.
How do mosquitoes pick up the protist?
By feeding on an infected animal.
How do mosquitoes infect other animals?
By inserting the protist into the animal’s blood cells
What does malaria cause?
Repeating episodes of fever.
How can we stop the spread of malaria?
Stopping the mosquitoes from breeding
Using insecticides and mosquito nets.
