How do funerals benefit the mourners who attend it?
A
- An acknowledgement that they are no longer part of this world but are now in God’s care.
- Marks the start of life without them, in which the dead person is remembered
- Could make them happy as the dead person’s life is celebrated
- Opportunity to publicly express their love and admiration for the dead person
- Draw comfort from other mourners and the reassurance that the dead person lives on with God

A stone that is put at the place where the person is buried containing their name and maybe a message from them.

The stages of a FUNeral?
A
- Bible Reading - the reading focuses on the prospect of eternal life with God after death (John 11:25) ‘I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes me will live, even though he dies’
- Prayer - Prayers are said for the friends and relatives of the dead person. It can be said in Catholic faith for the dead person.
- Hymn - One or more hymns may be sung. As the bible reading the focus is likely to be for the hope of an afterlife.
- Eulogy - This is a talk or a speech in which the person’s life is remembered and their achievements are acknowledged often through the sharing of memories
- Holy Communion - In the Catholic it is always performed. It reminds the mourners of the death and resurrection of Christ which gave humans a chance for eternal life.
- ‘We therefore commit his/her body to the ground: earth to earth, ashes to ashes, dust to dust; in sure and certain hope to the Resurrection to eternal life.
