A
A measure of how hard a material is being compressed.
Pressure or tension acting on a body ( [Newton] Nm-2= Pa: 100kPa = 1 bar

A
The stress that deforms a material by one part sliding over another along a number of failure planes (same units as stress)

A
Measure of the deformation of a body under stress. Relates change in length divided by initial length (dimensionless- length units cancel)
