Acute inflammation

What causes eosinophil infiltration?
Allergic reaction, parasitic infections, tumours
Describe the histological features of squamous cell carcinomas
Keratin production, intracellular bridges, do not form glands
Describe the histological features of adenocarcinomas
Gland formation, secretion of glandular fluid, mucin production

Skin, head and neck, upper and middle oesophagus, anus, cervix, vagina

What does Fontana stain for?
Melanin
What does Prussian blue stain for?
Iron (used in haemochromatosis)
What does Congo Red stain for?
Amyloid, with apple green birefringence
What is the marker of lymphoid cells?
CD45
What is the marker for epithelial cells?
Cytokeratin
