- bones
- cartilage
- muscle
- tendons
- skin
- hair
What are enzymes?
Enzymes are proteins that speed up chemical reactions in the body
What are hormones?
Hormones are made up of proteins and are the body’s chemical messengers and metabolic regulators
What do proteins manufacture in the body?
Proteins manufacture antibodies to help the body fignt disease
What functions do proteins have in relation to blood?
- carry oxygen in the blood to parts of the body
- regulate blood sugar
- help with blood clotting
What does protein maintain in the body, aside from body tissue, muscle and blood cells?
They maintain the water balance and pH balance in the body
What happens to proteins that the body does not use for growth and repair?
Excess protein is converted to glucose in the liver and used as a source of energy
