Anatomy of trigeminal
Only nerve to come out of the pins
Nuclei sit on top of the petrous bone
Three divisions are ophthalmic, maxillary and mandibular.
Ophthalmic exits skull through superior orbital fissure, maxillary through foremen rotundum and mandibular through foramen ovals.
Facial nerve anatomy
All components exit skull via the internal auditory meatus.
Motor part exits through petrous bone between the styloid and mastoid processes. Many branches.
Parasympathetic branch to pterygopalatine ganglion to innervqte lacrimal gland and nasal mucosa. Submandibular ganglion inner area sublingual and submandibular salivary glands.
Optic nerve anatomy
Made up of retinal ganglion cell axons within collagen lattice (Lamina cribosa). Two optic nerves meet at the middle to form the optic chiasm and one part from echo side crosses over.
