Functions of Communication
- It is a rule or directive made and maintained by an authority.
- Since it is regulated its means there is a limiting or regulating something.
- It is control when there is the power to influence or affect people’s behavior
or the course of event. - Communication functions to control behavior
Regulation and Control
Example :
- The doctor is instructing her patients about her medication.
- Parent’s instruction to their children
- Friends giving advice
- Costumers making orders

Example :
- The man and woman are dating and spending intimate time with each other.

- Refers to a person using language to express desires, needs, wants, likes and dislikes, inclinations, choices, and aspiration.
- This is when the speaker purpose is to persuade another person to change
his/her opinion, attitude, or behavior. - Expressing one’s ambitions, talking about preferences, making petitions and
more. - Motivates and encourages people to live better.

Example :
- Listening to the speech of the validectorian in school.

Information Dissemination
- used when the speaker wants to make others aware of certain data, concepts, and processes
- knowledge that may be useful to them.
- Getting information may come in the form of questions intended for
forgetting details of information or ideas, commands like imperatives, or even statements. - Communication functions to convey information.
