We need to conform to norms to keep the structures of society functioning - failure to conform causes ANOMIE = normlessness which is a result of no value consensus.

Organic analogy - institutions work together and function like a living thing.

People are allocated roles based on ability - most able = better jobs as most suited therefore beneficial to society.
