Are longer than wide and have a shaft with expanded ends eg. Femur

Short, small and thick cubed shaped, no shaft eg. Only found in feet and hands

Thin flattened bones form boundaries around cavities to protect organs eg. Skull, sternum, ribs

Small and round, develop within tendons eg. Patella
