Function Flashcards
What is the role of the cornea ?
Admits and refracts/ bends light
What is the role of the sclera ?
Provides shape and protects the inner part
What is the role of the iris ?
Regulates the amount of light that enters the eyeball
What is the role of the ciliary body?
Secretes aqueous humor and alters shape of lens for near or far vision ( accomodation)
What is the role of the choroid ?
Provides blood supply
What is the role of the retina ?
Receives light and converts it into receptor potentials and nerve impulses.
What is the role of the lens ?
Refracts light
What is the role of the anterior cavity ?
It contains aqueous humour that helps to maintain the shape of the eyeball and supply oxygen and nutrients to the lens and cornea.
What is the role of the vitreous chamber ?
It contains a vitreous body and helps maintain the shape of the eyeball and retina attached to the choroid.
