A

aerobic system can’t produce ATP fast enough (oxygen deficit) to keep up with the demand, therefore the anaerobic system is relied upon for immediate ATP production

Causes of EPOC? (6)

A
  1. Convert lactate produced –> glucose
  2. Resynthesize PC in muscles
  3. Restoration of muscle and blood oxygen
  4. Some O2 goes to lowering HR and BP
  5. Elevated body temperature = increased metabolic rate
  6. Elevated hormones of epinephrine and nor-epinephrine
