FUEL Flashcards
What does the Nitrogen Inerting Unit (NIU) do?
provides oxygen-depleted air to the internal cells to reduce the fire hazards associated with fuel cell ullage (air space)
What is the forward and aft fuel cell storage capacity?
Forward: 156 Gallons/ 1045.2 lbs
Aft: 220 gallons/ 1476 lbs
What is the Robby tank and external aux tank capacity?
Robby tank: 100/130 gallons, 670/871 lbs
Aux tank: 230 gallons/ 1,541 lbs
The fuel cells are self-ceiling up to what caliber round?
12.5mm/ 50 caliber and on the bottom up to a 14.5mm
Fuel cells full of fuel can survive a ____ fall on to concrete without bursting
65 ft
When does the low fuel caution come on?
Forward cell less than 240 lbs
Aft cell less than 260 lbs
Where is the fuel boost pump located and is it electrical or IPAS powered?
Aft fuel cell and it is IPAS driven
What is the maximum pressure for refueling?
55 psi
Before opening either gravity refuel filler port cap, place the REFUEL VALVE switch in the _______ position to vent pressure from the internal fuel cells. This will prevent fuel from being expelled out the port when the cap is opened.
OPEN
Aft Fuel Low
Land as soon as practicable
Forward fuel low
Land as soon as practicable
XFEED 1 or 2 valve fail
Achieve safe single engine airspeed. If CAUTION message extinguishes, continue mission. If CAUTION message remains, be prepared for a single engine flame-out. LAND AS SOON AS PRACTICABLE.
Both engine 1 and 2 fuel PSI low
Fuel page boost button- press on
LAND AS SOON AS POSSIBLE
What is a cross feed valve and what does it do?
They allow both engines to draw fuel from either internal fuel cell. It also provides a positive fuel shutoff during maintenance and emergencies. Crossfeed SOVs are three-way, four-position ball valves that are controlled by the SP.
In external AUX tanks what supplies the transfer method?
IPAS
