Q

What stops the fuel flow into a tank if it becomes full and how?

A

Fuel Level Control Valves (FLCV) are electrically operated and allow fuel to flow into the tank. They are spring loaded and shut when electrical power is disrupted or floats close it when tank capacity is reached.

Q

In the engine shutdown checklist why does it state to turn the engine start switch to STOP?

A

Because the fire handle cuts off supply to the nacelle but the booster pump will still be trying to feed the leftover fuel in the system to the engine as long as the switch is still in RUN.
