We can’t do anything to fix it. The problem is too big/overwhelming & we lack the power to make any sort of difference
What is love?
The tool of transformation
The weapon of the revolution
What is individualism?
It is everyone for themselves. Each person must take responsibility for their own lives & when/if they fail, others should not be expected to help them
Independence vs interdependence (acknowledging inter-relations)
What is enlightened self interest?
Realization that by helping others we are really helping ourselves in the end. Every person needs other people to live a satisfying life.
What is compassion?
Loving & empathetic connection to another. You care for the other as a parent would for their child
What is the basic message of the creation story?
God created everything, everything God created was good, evil comes into the world when we give into temptation & make poor choices
Why are human beings different?
Because we are made in the image of God. We are meant to be stewards of creation & co creators with God.
What does human dignity come from?
Our being made in Gods image & nothing can take that away from ha
What must we do about oppression?
Work with God to end it
Why does suffering exist?
Because of free wills but God doesn’t want suffering
The Sabbath Year
When does it occur?
Occurs every 7 years
The land is allowed to rest
Everything the land produces is equal property of all; owners, hired hands, slaves, tenants, live stock, the poor, wild animals, male & female
Jubilee year
When does it occur?
Occurs every 50 years
All sabbath year rules are followed
All land is returned to their original owner
Reminds us that God owns everything in creation & we must use it as God wishes
All slaves are freed
All debts are forgiven
Why does God send us prophets?
To remind us we are living incorrectly
