FSRH SDI LoC –> I &R ( insertion and removal)
–> IO (insertion only)
who is the SDI IO LoC aimed at?
HCPs working in abortion care or maternity services (must have a regulatory body e.g. nurses, midwifes, doctors)… nursing associates do not fulfil the criteria
do people doing SDI IO LoC have to complete the OTA?
no (OTA = online theory assessment replaces eKA)
how many observations do you need for SDI IO versus SDI I&R
SDI IO = 3 observations of fitting implants
SDI I&R = 2 observed fittings and removals of implants
this is for standard route
how often do you have to re-certify if doing DFSRH or LoCs?
every 5 years
what does the OTA comprise ? types of questions and how many?
50 multiple choice questions (online theory assessment)
what does the AHD that makes up the DFSRH consist of?
Assessment half day = face to face summative assessment that consists of :-
4 stations that candidates rotate round and a 1 hour exam.
once a candidate registers for the DFSRH how long do they have to complete all the learning requirements and assessments?
2 years from registering
what are the four domains that make up the assessment framework of the DFSRH
- independent learning portfolio (e-learning, topic investigations, case discussions and patient feedback)
- OTA
- 5 summative clinical assessments
- AHD
what regulatory bodies/professions does FSRH recognise and mean can complete DFSRH and LoCs
basically any HCP in the UK and Ireland that has a regulatory body e.g. midwifes, doctors, nurses, pharmacists, physician associates, HCPs (regulated with the health care professional regulatory body)
can nursing associates complete DFSRH, LoCs?

what are the minimum requirements to be able to apply DFSRH
- registered with a regulatory body within UK or Ireland.
- able to give SC and IM injections
- up to date with resus and anaphylaxis training
- safeguarding level 3 and 2
- perform a speculum examination
