Fillibuster
What can end a filibuster?

A cloture’s main purpose is to provide a means to check or END a filibuster.

-Established by anti-federalists
- In conclusion, Brutus No. 1 argues that the Constitution represents a threat to the rights and freedoms of citizens and should not be ratified.

-Lacks a bill of rights to protect individual liberties such as freedom of speech, religion, and the press.
Caucuses
-An informal committee that dicusses issues they want to advance
-A caucus is a meeting or grouping of supporters or members of a specific political party or movement.
Majority Leader
The majority floor leader is a partisan position in a legislative body.
Discharge Petition
-Prevents the bill from staying in the House
-The Speaker must have already dissaproved of it first

Senator says they are against unanimous vote and want there to be discussion and deliberation
-Minority party
Rules Committee
-Review bills after they come from the full committee
-Responsible for the rules under which the bill will be presented to the House of Representatives

Before a President appoints a judge or member, they must go through the Senate

-Compromise between the House and the Senate
-Make bills align
-Settle differences in versions of a bill passed by each house in Congress
Investigation/Hearings
A power held by both the House and the Senate.

When a Congressional member, believes in themselves to advocate for issues, even if it goes against their consituent’s wishes.
