Fillibuster
What can end a filibuster?

A cloture’s main purpose is to provide a means to check or END a filibuster.

-Established by anti-federalists

-Lacks a bill of rights to protect individual liberties such as freedom of speech, religion, and the press.

-An informal committee that dicusses issues they want to advance
-A caucus is a meeting or grouping of supporters or members of a specific political party or movement.

The majority floor leader is a partisan position in a legislative body.
Discharge Petition
-Prevents the bill from staying in the House
-The Speaker must have already dissaproved of it first

Senator says they are against unanimous vote and want there to be discussion and deliberation

-Review bills after they come from the full committee
-Responsible for the rules under which the bill will be presented to the House of Representatives

Before a President appoints a judge or member, they must go through the Senate

-Compromise between the House and the Senate

A power held by both the House and the Senate.

When a Congressional member, believes in themselves to advocate for issues, even if it goes against their consituent’s wishes.
Treaties
Binding agreements nations have that become international law.
The House ratifies treaties, the Senate does not.
Nuclear Option
Changing the rules surrounding a filibuster, whether that be lowering the winning vote or establishing a new precedent.
17th Amendment
Senators can be voted on by the people instead of being appointed like they once were.
