What is the sound occurrence for /z/?

A
  1. Breathe in air
  2. Air comes up from the lungs
  3. Vocal folds are adducted
  4. Velopharyngeal port is closed to allow air into the nasal cavity
  5. Tip of the tongue is by the lower front teeth. Body is bunched and shift a bit forward to be flattened by alveolar ridge and grooved along its midline. Makes contact with upper ridge laterally
  6. Lips are apart and neutral
  7. The airflow is channeled through the grove of the tongue against the upper alveolar ridge and front teeth creating turbulence and friction for phonation
