What is the sound occurrence for /z/?
A
- Breathe in air
- Air comes up from the lungs
- Vocal folds are adducted
- Velopharyngeal port is closed to allow air into the nasal cavity
- Tip of the tongue is by the lower front teeth. Body is bunched and shift a bit forward to be flattened by alveolar ridge and grooved along its midline. Makes contact with upper ridge laterally
- Lips are apart and neutral
- The airflow is channeled through the grove of the tongue against the upper alveolar ridge and front teeth creating turbulence and friction for phonation
