Psychosexual stages of development (oral stage)
focus on the mouth. Libido focusing orally. Fixation is dependency of oral habits such as smoking or over eating.
Oral receptive- passive, dependent
Oral aggressive- hostile and domineering
Anal stage (18-36months)
Focus on the anus
Toilet training
Fixation:
Anal retentive: mean, stubborn
Anal expulsion: disregard rules, disorganised
Phallic stage (3-6yrs)
Desire opposite sex parent
Discover parent unavailable so they model same sex parent
Development of Oedipus complex or Electra complex
Fixation- relationship issues
Latency stage (6- puberty)
Resting phase
Repress sexual desires due to shame and disgust
Focus on school or work
Genital phase (puberty onwards)
Libido focus on genitalia
Maturity in relationships and sexuality
Fixation- unhealthy adult relationships
