Vick takes a trip to the hills (mountains)
Why did the monster kill / farm half of Vick’s family
in a desperate attempt to get back at Vick for being a shitty creator, and leaving the monster all on his own to be ostracized by a cruel and blind society
In an attempt to end his solitude, what does the creature ask of Vick?
to make him a m8.
Why does Frankenstein destroy the creatures potential bang piece?
He’s afraid of the consequences of a second creature (on the surface). Jungianly speaking however, Frankenstein gets so absorbed in his persona, that his shadow inevitably expanded. The creature is the tangible form of Vick’s shadow, and when he sees it in the flesh, he flips man.

Who is the sea explorer, and a mild reflection of Vick’s ambition?
Robert Walton the sea explorer :)
Protag. of the novel. Investments in persona leads to his downfall
Vick
Tried to fit in, failed cause he’s hurt looking. Sadness turns to anger, at the core he just wants somebody to luv
the monster
Father of Vick. Rock to lean on in the family. Family Values. Dies of grief cause pretty much all his offspring had died too.
Alphonse Frankenstein
originally an orphan from Italy. Adopted by the Frankensteins, future wife of Vick
Elizabeth Lavensa
Bestfriend of Vick. Nurses him back to health when Vick falls ill. Often cheerful in counter with Vick’s frequent sadness
Henry Clerval
Vick’s lil bro. Ends up getting strangled by the monster
William Frankenstein
Gets adopted by Frankenstein family for several years. Blamed for the death of William because of having jewelry on her at the time of his death. She gets executed
Justine Moritz
Gets taken in by Alphonse Frankenstein when her father dies. Mother of the Frankenstein kids. Dies because of scarlet fever
Caroline Beaufort
Merchant and friend of Alphonse Frankenstein. His daughter gets taken in by Alphonse when he himself dies
Beaufort

M. Waldman
Magistrate who accuses Vick of Henry’s murder
M. Kirwin
Professor of Natural philosophy at Vick’s university. Says the pseudoscientists Vick studies are dumb
M. Krempe
Light and Fire as a symbol in general.
Symbolizes knowledge, truth, life. Also on a negative viewpoint, how too much of knowledge and truth can “burn” you. Much how Vick’s pursuit for the “secret of life” resulted in the monster and the death of all his family.
Light as a symbol for society
Society finds truth, and knowledge as recognizable dangers to blissful ignorance. Light allows society to see the horror of the monster, and thus knowledge and the advancement of itself.
Victor as a symbol
Burnt by “light” (truth / knowledge).
Light as a symbol for the monster
Monster is uncomfortable to light. His first “sensation” is that of light. Monster is not ignorant to light however, he is terrified looking at society just like society is terrified looking at him. The truth in both scenarios is cruel and ugly
The moon as a symbol
The natural world, and how cruel and beautiful it can be
The sublime as a symbol to Vick
Vick experiences the sublime as equally beautiful and terrifying simultaneously. When lightning strikes the tree, Vick is mesmerized by its beauty and its destruction.
Myth of Prometheus as allusion…
Frankenstein brings the “light” of life to the creature. However because of his ambitions, he is tortured.
Biblical Adam Allusion…
Vick “bites” the apple of life, and because of his ambitions, is tortured. Because of his imperfections, his creation is tortured as well.
Rime of the Ancient Mariner Allusion…
Mariner travels the world telling people not to kill albatrosses because he did it and it brought him bad luck. Vick doesn’t love his creation, gets “bad luck”, and Robert Walton travels the world telling to peeps to love everything.
Anima
INTERNAL feminine counterpart to male persona. OUTWARDLY, the masculine persona is logical and objective. INWARDLY, the soul to the enforced masculine persona is feminine; based on feelings, opinions, weaknesses. When masculine men hit hard times, their anima prevails, and they fall hard into emotional despair
Animus
INTERNAL masculine counterpart to the female persona. OUTWARDLY, the female persona is emotional, based on personality and opinions. INWARDLY, the feminine persona is logical, strong, objective. When feminine females fall on hard times, they are the stronger gender; which is why men rely on their wives when hitting hard times.
Persona
The OUTWARD mask of people. The more persona that people show, the greater their shadow is. Some people are so invested in their persona / mask, that they actually believe it is really them.
Shadow
Opposite of the persona. The insecurities, weaknesses, demons, evils, and things that society deems unfit. The persona and shadow must be recognized and balanced.
Frankenstein in the context of Persona v. Shadow
Victor puts on the persona (mask) of a scientist. He invests all his time in convincing himself and other people that his persona is all he is. Because of Vick’s neglect to his shadow and thus investment in his mask, his shadow (the monster) starts growing stronger, and kills the people in Vick’s life.
Frankenstein in the context of Anima and Animus
Victors OUTWARDLY strives to be masculine, logical, heroic, and strong. Because of his over investment in his anima, his INWARD anima is based on emotion and opinion, and is thus unstable. Therefore when Victor falls on hard times, his anima appears, and he is reliant on his dead animus counterpart of a wife.
