FPR Flashcards
1
Q
Piriformis muscle
A
- pt prone with pillow under abdomen
- doc seated on the side of df
- doc monitors at df tissue at piriformis insertion on greater trochanter
- doc flexes pts knee and drops pts flexed knee and though off the table, allowing hip to flex forward until motion is felt at monitoring hand
- doc adducts and IR the pts knee until motion is felt
- induce compression force at the knee toward the monitoring hand, feeling for release of tissues
- hold for 3-4 seconds and return to neutral/release compression
- reassess piriformis df
2
Q
Gluteus maximus muscle
A
- pt prone with pillow under abdomen
- doc seated on the side of df
- doc monitors at df
- doc flexes pt’s knee into full abduction to rest knee on doc’s thigh farthest from the patient
- doc raises their heel off the floor until motion is felt at monitoring hand, this induces extension
- doc pushes pt’s knee externally (or pulls pt’s ankle medially) causing external rotation at the hip
- hold for 3-4 seconds waiting for tissue relaxation, release hip positioning , and return to neutral
- reassess gluteal df
