what is an internal combustion engine

why is it called four stroke?

A
  • internal combustion engines contain cylinders filled with air
    • air in these cylinders is trapped by tight-fitting pistions so gas can’t escape
    • move up and down
  • gas inside is steam
  • each time a piston move sup or down is called a stroke
  • four stroke engines are engines which brun fuel once every four strokes of a pistion
