Judaism
- Moses and the burning bush- Moses receives Gods name “Yahweh”-i am who i am
- when moses speaks to God on mount sinai and receives the decalogue
the decalogue is what judaism is based around–> jewish people still stick to the rules and take them very seriously e.g. the sabbath, they refrain from driving and turning lights on and off
Islam
Muhammad (570)- was a deeply spiritual man and spent a lot of time meditating on mount Hira. One day whilst meditating in a cave the angel Jibreel visited him. Jibreel asked him to repeat the words he was saying, however it was not until he mentioned the word Allah that he actually started reciting. Muhammad had many more of these experiences throughout his life.
He was so enthused by his revelations that he travel preaching the words he had been given, including that Allah is the only God.
From his revelations the Qu’ran (the main holy scripture of Islam) was created- still shown the upmost respect today- placed on the highest point of the room and touched with clothes.

Buddhism
The Budhha Siddhartha Gautama was sat under a Bodhi tree when he suddenly felt like he was undergoing profound, and extensive, alterations of realisation and awakening He no longer had fears including fears of death and he lost a sense of the world containing separate entities–> everything merged. During the 7 days of his RE he is said to have reach enlightenment, a state where all suffering is eliminated due to abandonment of desires; desires being the cause of suffering
Christianity
For Christianity there are a number of key RE:
1) Jesus’ baptism
2) the transfiguration
3) the calming of the storm
4) The annunciation
