Q

Corrosion Fouling: Explain & Prevent.

A
  • fouling caused by chemical reaction within HE
  • can cause pits
  • can cause thick layers or rust or oxide

Prevention:
- coat HE pipes in glass
- change pipe material
- regular cleaning

Q

Biological Fouling: Explain & Prevent

A
  • algae fouling
  • fouling caused by a build up of microorganisms (bacteria, algae, fungi)
  • accumilation creates a layer of biofilm on HE surfaces

Prevention:
- biofouling resistant materials
- high velocity
- chemically treat pipes / fluid
- regular cleaning

Q

Precipitation Fouling: Explain & Prevent

A
  • build up of sediment on HE surfaces

Prevention:
- process water - remove solids
- chemically treat water - break solids down
- regular cleaning
