Forward and Reverse Circuits Flashcards
What are the four parts of a forward/reverse motor starter?
- Forward Coil
- Reverse Coil
- 1 Overload Relay
- 1 mechanical Inter Lock
What is interlocking?
Physically blocks both coils from closing at the same time
In control logic, what does and/or represent?
Normally Open
What does Not, Nor, and And represent?
Normally closed
What is “and” in control logic?
2 or more N.O buttons connected in series
What is “or” in control logic?
2 or more N.O contacts connected in parallel
What is “Not” in control logic?
Only 1 N.C contact connected to a load
*sends a signal when not activated
What is “Nor” in control logic?
2 or more N.C contacts placed in series
What is “NAND” in control logic?
2 or more N.C contacts connected in parallel
What is memory in control logic?
Holding contact, Auxiliary contact that keeps sending a signal
What is a time delay?
It is used in circuits to provide a time delay either at the beginning or end of applied power
What is on delay?
When power is applied there is a delay before contacts change states
What happens when power is removed from an on delay time relay?
Contacts will change back immediately
What is off delay?
When power is applied contacts change immediately
What happens when power is removed?
There is a delay before returning back to original state
