Quality Assessment: Good Quality Reserve Ruby
There is some balance between the flavour intensity and the alcohol. However there is a slight burning sensation.
The length and intensity are both medium which makes it better than acceptable. However there is no real complexity. It is fruity and simple which makes it good quality rather than very good.
A longer length and more definition and complexity are required for a higher quality assessment
Standard phrases to use when discussing suitability for further ageing
Vintage Port The wine will age in bottle as there is sufficient intensity of primary fruit which will develop in to x, y, z as the wine ages further
Oxidative or Biological ageing - The wine will not age in bottle as the wine has undergone it’s ageing (biological or oxidative) and the wine will not gain any positive aromas and complexity as it ages
Muscat Beaumes de Venise or White Port -The wine will not age in bottle as the wine’s fresh fruity primary notes will fade in the bottle
Example of Origin note
The x, y, z ( insert primary evidence) show the wine to be a (biological/oxidatively) aged fortified wine fortified to an x level. The a, b, c ( insert secondary evidence) is also typical for this style
