Forms Of Feedback Flashcards
0
Q
What is the definition of feedback?
A
The information a performer receives during and after the performance of a movement
1
Q
What are the 9 types of feedback?
A
Knowledge of results, knowledge of performance, extrinsic, intrinsic, terminal, concurrent, delayed, positive, negative
2
Q
What is knowledge of performance feedback?
A
- receiving info of movement pattern (not outcome)
- internal/how close the movement is to ‘perfect model’
- can be provided by coaches
- can be external (feedback on small errors that performers may not be able to detect themselves)
- use of HD cameras (slow-mo)
For example: a diver may receive info on body position via a video
3
Q
What is knowledge of results?
A
- usually External + terminal
- seeing their result of action or receiving that info from another person
- vital to learning/progress
For example: a basketballer seeing the ball drop into the hoop
4
Q
What is extrinsic feedback?
A
- feedback received from outside through hearing or vision
- often given by coaches/teammates
- linked to knowledge of results
5
Q
What is intrinsic feedback?
A
- receives from proprioceptors
- ‘feel’ of movement (kinaesthetic feedback)
- linked to knowledge of performance
- part of info processing model
6
Q
What is terminal feedback?
A
- feedback given after the action has been performed
- external
- delayed
7
Q
What is concurrent feedback?
A
- feedback received during performance
- internal
- can be from coach
- can be from proprioceptors/kinasthetic feel
8
Q
What is delayed feedback?
A
- Feedback given the next day after performance
- usually written or video feedback
- benefits performers who learn from visual
9
Q
What is positive feedback?
A
- Received when the performer was successful
- usually in practice
- better likelihood of repeating the action again
10
Q
What is negative feedback?
A
- received after the action is unsuccessful
- either internal or external
