A

National institute of health stroke scale This is used to determine the impairment caused by stroke
score of 42-
0- no stroke
1-4- minor
5-15- moderate
16-20- moderate to severe
21-42-life-threatening

A

A score of more than 4 suggests delirium but it is not diagnostic
Alertness
confusion- age name, DOB
attention - LIST THE MONTHS INT HE YEAR
acute or fluctuating

used to differentiate between delirium and dementia

What is the bamford classification?

A

used to classify different types of strokes
TACS- total anterior stroke:
- unilateral weakness
-homonymous hemianopia
- dysphasia

PACS- two of the above

POCS-
-Cerebellar dysfunction
-bilateral motor and sensory deficit
-cranial nerve palsy - contralateral sensory deficit
LACS:
pure sensory
pure motor
sensori-motor

What is the TOAST criteria?

A

This describes the different causes of stroke:
-large artery atherosclerosis
-small vessel occlusion
-cardioembolism
-stroke of other cause
-stroke of unknown cause

What is the ROSIER scale?v

A

recognising stroke in the emergency room

includes FAST- Facial weakness, asymmetry, slurring speech
with visual field problems, arm weakness asymmetric arm and leg weakness
