Q

What is the first significant point of the choice to make it a play ?

A
  • the audience are not in control of the narrative unlike a book where you can revise certain lines of dialogue
  • the audience is captive to the play
  • the character exit and enter the stage however the audience watched the whole event unfold
    Why ?
Priestly does this to challenge the audience with the message of the play refusing to give them rest
This is because priestly wants to give us an unrelenting enlightenment on the ideas of social responsibility

Q

What did Priestly use the form of a play ?

A

Drama refuses as to allow the audience to experience the text in isolation and joins them together collectively
It’s the form itself that forces a collective response and the lack of individualism
This then ties in nicely with the texts main idea of social responsibility
