what is the intention of paso doble?
The intention of paso doble from Strictly ballroom is to represent the different styles of ballroom dance highlighting the Paso Doble dance style, movements, and meaning. Challenging the normal rules and expectations in competitive ballroom dancing and the feeling of rebellion, the Paso Doble dance from Strictly Ballroom becomes a realisation for what different dance movements and styles can be created.

A - first half of the dance competition, before they get disqualified

B - Scott not dancing for the competition but for his dad (when the clapping starts) - stops after the beating section
– intention; the realisation that Scott can dance for the sake of dancing and not for the competition. He also wants to prove to his father that he can do this (claps)
– Movement Vocab; representing traditional paso doble styles, movements and meanings through Scott’s slower steps yet still having that apel like stop between them, the repetitive stamping (highlight)

C - the more traditional style of the paso doble and them being confident - end of the beating to the end of the dance
– Intention; to show the tradition movements of the paso doble style and to highlight how Scott and Fran are dancing for themselves to show this other form of dance and not dancing for the competition
– Movement Vocab; The movements become faster as the two dancers move closer together and at the start of this section. In this section we see more turns and fluid movements with faster speeds and lifts were used a bit more as well.
