what is the intention of paso doble
The intention of paso doble from Strictly ballroom is to represent the different styles of ballroom dance highlighting the Paso Doble dance style, movements, and meaning. Challenging the normal rules and expectations in competitive ballroom dancing and the feeling of rebellion, the Paso Doble dance from Strictly Ballroom becomes a realisation for what different dance movements and styles can be created.
how is repetition shown
Repetition is used through the first section when Scott does a step around Fran and circles his leg then spins Fran under his arm. He repeats the movement three times one right after the other. Then, after doing so, they repeat it again later in the section right towards the very end before the turning lift, repeating it the exact same way.
how is augmentation shown
Augmentation is used through a lunge in the first section and in the second section when Scott is beside Fran. At the very beginning of the dance, after Scott does a slide on his knees he steps into a deep lunge with his hands coming over his head and by his side, looking up to Fran. Then, in section B, Scott does the same type of lunge except he runs and leaps into the lunge. Still maintaining all other movements, the jump enlarges the lunge in the section section, highlighting the use of augmentation.
how is addition shown
Addition is used in section A and section C at the end of each section when Scott lifts Fran on his side with her legs out. The first time they did this lift they were stopped after the lift by the announcer o f the competition as they were being disqualified but on the second time they continued more movement after that. They added Fran turning away from Scott and him doing the turning slide from the beginning of the piece. This highlights the addition through the 2 sections and the dance.
