Document which formed the first government of the United States near the end of the American revolution. The Confederation government gave states more power than federal government.

Delegates met in Philadelphia Pennsylvania to revise the articles of confederation; instead they wrote a new constitution and formed a federal system of government
Constitutional convention (also called the Philadelphia Convention of 1787)
Government in which government can check the power of the other two branches. this principal keeps anyone branch from becoming too powerful
